Sale of land for rate arrears
Section 140-146 of the Local Government Regulation 2012 provides for local governments to sell your property when rates and charges have been overdue for at least 3 years. Council will actively pursue all available options under legislation to ensure that the overdue rates and charges are not a burden on the region's ratepayers.
The auction for 2021 has finalised. This process will commence again later in the year, however details will not become public until an auction notice is issued to the relevant parties around March 2022. Sale of land for rate arrears auctions are usually held in April of each year.
