Forgotten Foods to Fabulous Feasts
Forgotten Foods to Fabulous Feasts is a community food program that aims to:
• Help community members improve their health and wellbeing and be more prepared and resilient in times of need.
• Enhance access to healthy food, food literacy, and nutrition through initiatives like cooking classes, meal planning, food pantries and community barbecues.
• Strengthen Neighbourhood Centres to support individuals and families facing vulnerability and financial pressures.
Running from both the Childers and Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centres, the program offers a range of free support including:
Local produce
Enjoy the delicious donated produce in our community food pantries from local farms and businesses
Cooking classes
Join in free community classes where volunteers will demonstrate how to cook with local and donated ingredients.
Tips and tricks
Learn tips and tricks for healthy eating and shopping to a budget and get access to a range of easy and delicious recipes.
BBQs
Gather together every month to enjoy a free community barbecue.
Childers: First Thursday of each month from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm at the Childers Neighbourhood Centre.
Gin Gin: Last Thursday of each month from 11.30 am to 1 pm at the Gin Gin Neighbourhood Centre.
