Our Bundaberg Region website

Bundaberg CBD Tree Planting Project Select garden beds in the Bundaberg CBD, between Maryborough Street and Tantitha Street will receive an upgrade. Existing vegetation will be removed and replaced with a tree and additional vegetation. Work will occur early in the morning to minimise disruption to customers and businesses. Work is being undertaken in three stages. Stage one and two have been completed. Stage three is currently underway and is three-quarters completed. End of December 2022 Tree Planting Project
Palm Park Shade Sail, Walkervale Provision of shade over the new playground  The shade sail posts will be installed on Tuesday 26 April over the course of a few days. The shade sail will be installed on Thursday 5 May 2022. Read about the project on the Our Bundaberg Region website.
Lake Ellen Heritage Hub, Bundaberg East Provision of a secure playground fence End of June 2022

Parks and Open Space new shade structure program Various Parks have been prioritised to receive shade sails this financial year, the Parks include; Palm Park, Boreham Park, Bargara Views Estate Park, Doblo Park, Christsen Park and Gin Gin Apex Park. End of June 2022  
Lake Ellen Heritage Hub, Bundaberg South Consultation with the community to develop a Concept Plan to determine what facilities the community would like to see in this area.

Nielson Park Northern Beach Access, Bargara Upgrade to beach access to protect dune system. Project has been submitted to the State Government for consideration and is waiting on further advice. End of June 2023  
Moneys Creek, Bargara Replacement of timber boardwalk with a concrete pathway Friday 13 May 2022 Work to upgrade the existing timber path will take place on Monday 3 May through to and including Friday 13 May 2022. Work will include informal retaining between the pathway and the beach and the removal of the pathway from the carpark to the surf lifesavers building structure. 

A new beach shower will also be installed along with two new bin enclosures and landscaping.

During the construction process, access to the beach will be available via the stairs at Crawford Park, Bargara.

Nielson Park Beach, Bargara Provision of a beach accessibility ramp for use by the community End of June 2022 Beach mat has been purchased and is with the Bundaberg Surf Life Saving Club. The Club and Council are finalising how the community will be able to access the mat. Once this is determined information will be provided to the community.

Transpiration area, Elliott Heads The current transpiration area near the toilet block will be made redundant in late 2021 due to caravan park effluent being re-directed to a sewered area. Funding will be for the development of a rehabilitation plan to determine what treatment of the site will be required and the best future use of this area. End of June 2022  
Elliott Heads foreshore playground Installation of shade sail  Completion by 19 May 2022 Work to excavate the holes to dig the posts will start on Tuesday 19 April 2022 and run through until Friday 13 May 2022. Existing playground equipment will be removed during the week starting Monday 28 March 2022 due to equipment being flood damaged. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and are working to install new equipment as soon as possible.
