Kerbside Bin Collection - FLOOD IMPACTED UPDATES
- Due to the recent weather event please be advised that kerbside bin collections are impacted.
- Kerbside collection team are aware and working extended hours to catch up on any affected or delayed services.
- Council thanks the community for its patience and understanding as bin collection resumes to normal operation in the coming days.
Road closures -If your bin service was affected by road closures you are able to take your bins to a local waste facility for free disposal
Lost or missing bins -Flood impacted lost or missing bins will be replaced. Please contact Bundaberg Regional Council on 1300 883 699 if your bin has been lost or damanged during the recentl flood event.
Free kerbside hard waste collection for flood impacted eligible homes
This kerbside hard waste collection has been made possible through Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements – a jointly funded program of the Australian and Queensland Governments.
Bundaberg Regional Council is providing support to flood impacted residential properties with free kerbside hard waste collection and free hard waste disposal.
Only flood-related hard waste associated with the Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji and Severe Weather event commencing 10 March 2026 will be included in the free kerbside collection. Flood-related hard waste refers to waste from inside and immediately outside the home.
Some insurance providers advise residents not to move household flood waste until insurance assessments are completed. Please check insurance requirements before disposing of items.
- Collections will commence on Saturday 14 March 2026 for one week
- Collections will begin in the Bundaberg North, Central and East and move through flood impacted areas. Crews will conduct two sweeps of the eligible impacted areas within the one week period to Friday 20 March 2026.
- Only flood-related hard waste associated with the Queensland Monsoon Trough, Cyclone Koji and Severe Weather event commencing 10 March 2026 will be collected
- Collection only applies to flood-related hard waste that comes from inside and immediately outside the home
- All waste should be separated for collection
- Hazardous waste including chemicals, batteries, anything containing a battery, paint, gas (LPG) bottles, oil, asbestos, explosives, ammunition will not be collected as part of kerbside collection and must be taken to a waste facility for free disposal.
- Tyres are ineligible for kerbside collection and free waste disposal
Traffic control and heavy machinery
Traffic control and heavy machinery will be in use for waste collection.
Be mindful of waste placement and ensure:
- It is safe and easy to access
- It is not placed under powerlines
- It is not placed over roads or in such a way that it would impede the safe flow of traffic
Eligible flood impacted properties
Any residential properties which were inundated by floodwaters that are not listed below, should contact Bundaberg Regional Council on 1300 883 699 to register for the free kerbside collection of flood impacted waste. Council is aware there may be additional outlying homes impacted and all requests will be confirmed and verified.
Upper catchment area
The list of impacted properties in the upper catchment area will be provided soon and flood-impacted residents in these rural and remote communities are asked to contact Council to register their property.

Kerbside bins - collection tips
- place bins on kerbside 0.5m apart and 1m from any other object (space bins apart)
- place bins out night before or before 5 am on collection day (no set collection times/ may vary)
- do not overfill bins or place large, heavy or hazardous items in the bin
- do not bag recycling - place loose in the recycling bin
- Council will only service BRC provided bins
Public Holidays- to ensure smooth collection, on public holidays please place your bins kerbside the night before collection day

N.B. Residents are responsible for the security of bins - after bins are emptied please ensure bins are removed from the kerbside and stored within your property as soon as practicable after servicing.

- select your address from the drop-down menu
The bin day finder will display your next:
- waste collection day (weekly)
- recycling collection day and week (fortnightly - Week A or B).
