Russo Park

This park is named in honour of the Russo family’s contribution to the district. They have been farming here for almost 100 years. At Russo Park you will enter a cool, closed forest with flowing streams and pools forming part of Stockyard Creek. You can also find pockets of thick, gnarled vines. These are remnants of the endangered Isis Scrub, which was once common around Childers. Stare in awe of towering blue gums, estimated to be over 200 years old with hollows likely housing owls, possums and gliders. There are multiple walking track options including a bridge crossing to a central open area under the tall trees. Rest at picnic tables before tackling a more challenging track through a drier eucalypt forest, to the top of the hill.
