Bridge closed to traffic in both directions
Bundaberg Regional Council are undertaking refurbishment work on Wendlands Gully Bridge located on Smith Crossing Road, Avondale
When will the works happen?
Work commenced in May 2026 and is being carried out on weekdays as day works. Delays were experienced due to contractor availability; however, weather permitting, the works are expected to be completed by 4 August 2026.
Traffic Management
During ongoing works, the bridge will be closed to all traffic and will be subject to traffic management measures. A detour is in place as highlighted in blue on the map above. The detour will continue to be maintained continually throughout the project. Appropriate signage is in place to guide road users.
The Site Supervisor will continue to liaise directly with affected residents to facilitate property access during road works. Bundaberg Regional Council is aware of the inconvenience roadworks can cause and thanks residents and road users for their patience and co-operation.
Council appreciates the community's understanding regarding delays experienced during the delivery of these works.
