Bundaberg Regional Council: A Small Business Friendly Council

Bundaberg Regional Council has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local small businesses by renewing its Small Business Friendly Commitment in 2025, as part of the Queensland Small Business Friendly Program.

Developed in partnership with the Queensland Small Business Commissioner’s Office, the commitment reinforces Council’s pledge to work collaboratively with small businesses, industry, community groups and government agencies to create a more supportive business environment across the region.

The Small Business Friendly Program, launched by the Queensland Government in 2020, encourages councils, government agencies and large organisations to champion initiatives that help small businesses succeed. Bundaberg Regional Council is one of 51 Queensland councils currently participating in the program.

Being small business friendly means actively working to improve the operating environment for local businesses by understanding their challenges, recognising opportunities, and taking practical action to support growth and success.

Council’s commitment focuses on:

  • Better understanding the local business operating environment
  • Identifying and engaging key internal and external stakeholders including Chambers of Commerce
  • Exploring challenges and opportunities facing small businesses
  • Delivering actions through a dedicated Small Business Action Plan

Through this commitment, Council continues to strengthen partnerships and support initiatives that help local small businesses thrive, contributing to a vibrant and resilient regional economy.
