Heart Foundation Walking Groups
Step into a healthier life
Heart Foundation Walking is Australia’s largest free walking initiative, helping thousands of Australians embrace a healthier lifestyle since 1995. Whether you're just starting out or looking to stay active, walking groups make walking easy, enjoyable, social and a fun way to boost your physical activity.
Walking regularly can help you!
Joining a Heart Foundation Walking group is a fun, social and simple way to boost your physical activity. Walking regularly can help you:
- Relax and clear your mind
- Explore new surroundings
- Stay connected with friends
- Enhance your mood each day
- Lower your risk of heart disease, stroke and certain cancers
The power of walking together
Walking with a group offers more than just physical benefits. It can:
- Keep you motivated
- Help you meet new people
- Strengthen your community ties
- Give you a greater sense of safety
Find and join a walking group near you or become a Walk Organiser to start your own in your area:
Personal walking plans
Personal walking plans have been designed by experts in exercise and behaviour change to match each patient's current activity level. Over a six-week period, the plans gradually increase in frequency, duration, and intensity. Perfect for individuals who prefer walking on their own, these plans:
- Easy to set up and delivered straight to your email and mobile
- Feature clear instructions, exercise videos, reminders and ongoing support
- Work well alongside walking groups for added encouragement and accountability.
- Support people in meeting the national physical activity guidelines within just six weeks
