Childers Neighbourhood Centre is jointly funded by Bundaberg Regional Council and the Department of Communities, and offers a wide range of support services. The Centre is located at 69 Churchill Street and opens 5 days a week from 8.30am to 4.00pm Monday to Friday.

Free Broadband for Seniors

A new Broadband for Seniors Kiosk is now open at the Childers Neighbourhood Centre for OVER 50's

  • Kiosk hours are Monday to Friday from 8.30-4.00.
  • Over 50's can access the computer anytime during these hours.
  • The kiosk features two computers with broadband access for use by members of our local community who are 50 and over.

So if you know anyone who is 50 and over who may like to use the Kiosk, please be sure to pass this information on.

Tutors are available for those just starting out, but bookings are essential and can be made by ringing the Centre on

4130 4690.

Tutors will assist with basic training for beginners in:

  • Basic computer, keyboard and mouse operation
  • Internet surfing using Internet Explorer
  • Email using Gmail
  • Constructing a letter using Wordpad


Collaboratively the Neighbourhood Centre and the services operating within believe in

  • the right of people to make choices in their own lives;
  • the right of people to dignity, respect, privacy and confidentiality;
  • the right of people to be valued as individuals;
  • the right of people to access services on a non-discriminatory basis;
  • the right of the community to accountable and responsive services.



  • Support Communities in developing and promoting successful family and community relationships.
  • Assist communities in discovering better links between the range of existing services.
  • Provide quality, consistent support for community members within the Isis District.
  • Provide a service to people regardless of Cultural, Social and Economical background.
  • Provide quality information, referral and guidance.

The Childers Neighbourhood Centre is a community Hub where various groups are able to meet and participate.  Various visiting service providers also use the Neighbourhood Centre as a meeting place.

The Neighbourhood Centre provides a venue for support Groups and visiting agencies.

Emergency Relief Program

The Emergency Relief Program operates through the Childers Neighbourhood Centre, this assists those in the community who find themselves in a crisis. This program can provide assistance with:

  • Food
  • Accommodation
  • Travel
  • Prescriptions
  • Bill Payment
