Be Prepared - Get Ready

Prepare Your Business

Getting your business prepared before a natural disaster strikes will help your business continue to operate and recover quickly.  Business Continuity Planning provides a framework to help you consider risks and what is needed to be operational post-disaster, develop your response to a disaster and to organise adequate insurance.  Additional advice can be found at Business Queensland

  1. Identify and analyse possible risks to your business.
  2. Develop a Business Continuity Plan. Consult with local authorities (e.g. QPS, QFES) to obtain relevant information to include in your business continuity plan.  Regularly review and update your business continuity plan and store a copy off-site in a safe, disaster-proof location.
  3. Prepare an emergency kit.
  4. Develop an evacuation plan for your business so you and your staff know what you need to do if you need to evacuate.
  5. Share your business continuity plan with staff and make sure staff are trained in first aid and evacuation procedures.
