Metered standpipes

Project hire conditions and FAQs

For all project hire applications, the hirer must present the hired standpipe meter for an assessment and read every three months or within 48 hours of Council's request.

A nil water consumption must also be provided, should the hired standpipe not have been used during the reporting period.

1. Are there any areas where a standpipe cannot be used?

Metered standpipes are not to be used in the Hummock area or the area bounded by (and including) Crook Street, Fermann Street, Woodward Road, Childers Road and the Ring Road Kensington or used in situations where a hose would need to be placed across a roadway.

2. My standpipe meter is not reading water consumption, what should I do?

You must report any fault/s with the hired standpipe within 24 hours and Council reserves the right to average or estimate water consumption in the event of a damaged/failed metered standpipe.

3. When will my security bond payment be returned?

The security bond paid shall be held in trust and will be refunded on return of the standpipe, providing the standpipe is not damaged. At Council’s discretion, the bond may be held until all fees and charges relating to the standpipe hire are paid in full.
