Bundaberg CBD Tree Planting Project Select garden beds in the Bundaberg CBD, between Maryborough Street and Tantitha Street will receive an upgrade. Existing vegetation will be removed and replaced with a tree and additional vegetation. Work will occur early in the morning to minimise disruption to customers and businesses. Work is being undertaken in three stages. Stage one and two have been completed. Stage three is currently underway and is three-quarters completed. End of December 2022 Tree Planting Project

Thank you to everyone who completed a survey or made contact with us to share your feedback. The next step in the project is to engage a heritage consultant to undertake a full audit of the toilet block and compile a report for Council. Recommendations from this report, including community feedback gathered during community consultation will be used to inform the next concept design. We will continue to update the Our Bundaberg Region web page once we have further information on the progress of this project.

Mikkelsen Park, Avenell Heights New play equipment The existing playground will be removed on Monday 21 and Tuesday 22 June 2022. A new playground will be installed after the June/July 2022 school holidays.

Parks and Open Space new shade structure program Various playgrounds have been prioritised to receive shade sails this financial year, these include playgrounds at; Palm Park, Boreham Park, Elliott Heads foreshore playground, Kolan Community Park and Apex Park in Gin Gin. 19 August 2022 Stay up to date with these projects on the Our Bundaberg Region website.
Lake Ellen Heritage Hub, Bundaberg South Consultation with the community to develop a Concept Plan to determine what facilities the community would like to see in this area.

Nielson Park Northern Beach Access, Bargara Upgrade to beach access to protect dune system. Project has been submitted to the State Government for consideration and is waiting on further advice. 30 June 2023

Transpiration area, Elliott Heads The current transpiration area near the toilet block will be made redundant in late 2021 due to caravan park effluent being re-directed to a sewered area. Funding will be for the development of a rehabilitation plan to determine what treatment of the site will be required and the best future use of this area. Date to be advised

Existing playground equipment was removed in March 2022 due to equipment being flood damaged. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused and are working to install new equipment as soon as possible.
