Say G'day and be a disaster ready resident
Celebrate Neighbour Day on 31 March by getting to know your neighbours.
Neighbours are a great way to stay informed, be connected and build resilience in the community.
During a disaster event, you may need to rely on your neighbours, so make the time to get to know each other before an event occurs.
That way, you and your neighbours can work together to prepare your homes, look after pets, or provide shelter during a disaster.
Tips to get started
- Think about people in your neighbourhood who may need extra assistance.
- Introduce yourself to your neighbours.
- Host a barbecue or a pot luck and invite your neighbours.
- If you have pets, organise a “meet and greet” or a play date.
- Alternatively, do a letter box drop to your neighbours using the Australian Red Cross neighbour card.
