School education partnerships

St John's Year 1 students become zoo storytellers

Alexandra Park Zoo was proud to welcome Year 1 students from St John’s Lutheran Primary School as part of a special community partnership supported by Bundaberg Regional Council. The students visited the zoo to meet our animals up close and learn directly from our dedicated Rangers.

During their excursion, the children listened carefully to the Rangers’ insights and discovered fascinating facts about the animals that call Alexandra Park Zoo home. Inspired by what they learned, each student returned to school and created their very own information report about a Zoo animal of their choice.

These reports not only showcase the students’ learning, but also highlight the incredible wildlife cared for at Alexandra Park Zoo. We’re delighted that their work is now featured on the Explore Bundaberg page, giving people across Australia the chance to read about our animals through the eyes of budding young writers.

The reports are grouped by the animals featured at the zoo, making it easy for readers to explore and enjoy.

We congratulate the Year 1 students on their fantastic efforts and thank them for helping share the stories of Alexandra Park Zoo’s amazing residents!
