Waste disposal categories and acceptance

FREE domestic green waste disposal from Sunday 1 October 2023. Strictly no contamination - fines may apply

Our Waste Management Facilities accept all different types of waste, much of which is recycled.  

In order to help us maximise recycling, residents and businesses are requested to separate their waste into the categories listed below when bringing waste to any of our facilities.

Waste Disposal Categories

 *Please note disposal limits apply & not all items are accepted for disposal at some our waste facilities. 

Asbestos Mattresses
Batteries - car (lead acid) Oils - car and cooking*
Batteries - all others / NICADS  Paint (PaintBack)
Chemicals* Recyclables (kerbside recycling items)
Chemical drums (DrumMUSTER) Refridgerants (fridges / airconditioners etc)
Concrete and demolision waste Re-saleable items
Dead Animals Steel and other metals
E-Waste (electronic waste) Timber / timber pallets
Garden / green waste Trickle tape and agricultral plastics
Gas bottles Tyres
General mixed waste (household and commercial) X-Rays

There are certain items which need to be declared when entering our waste facilities:

  • Ammunition / Explosives
  • Batteries (all)
  • Chemicals (domestic)
  • E-Waste (electronic waste)
  • Fluoros Tubes/ Bulbs
  • Fridges/ Aircons
  • Gas Bottles
  • Mattresses
  • Oils (car or cooking)
  • Paint
  • Tyres

 

Free disposal items

Free disposal when brought into selected facilities, items are declared and delivered to the designated areas 

*Please note some disposal limits apply

Waste acceptance load limits (Tirroan and Childers) *Commercial Waste

C&I (General Waste) - loads no greater than 3m3
C&D Waste - only small loads  - loads less than 0.5m3 accepted
