Bundaberg Regional Council wishes to advise of a recent clerical error which resulted in a data breach. The breach saw the release of a number of customers'/residents' personal details due to a successful impersonation email.
At this time, Council is unaware of any misuse of information and has notified those directly impacted.
What can you do?
It is believed organisations will potentially be targeted by a Bundaberg Regional Council “impersonator” requesting to have creditor details updated to redirect any invoice payments.
Council advises that its bank account details have not changed and you should disregard such a request, if received.
