Bundaberg Regional Council wish to advise that the water supply may be interrupted with low water pressure and/or discolouration in the following area:

Interruption Type Suburb Affected Street/s Begins Ends

Bundaberg Regional Council wish to advise that a Fire Hydrant Inspection and Testing Program is about to commence across two suburbs in the Bundaberg region. Your property has been included within this inspection program.

Detection Services have been engaged to complete these works and is expected to commence on 15th of May 2023 and be completed in June 2023.  The inspection and testing activities will be completed under the supervision of a Council Inspector.

The contractors will perform hydrant testing in your property’s vicinity within the next week, during this time your water supply may be briefly interrupted with low water pressure and / or discolouration.

The work will include assessing the condition of our fire hydrants and testing their functionality and water flow performance for SES-Firefighting activities.

Where required, works will be undertaken using traffic control which may require the closure of sections of the footpath or road shoulder. Council advises residents to be aware of inspection and testing equipment and requests that all safety signage be adhered to.

Council is aware of the inconvenience maintenance work causes and thanks businesses, residents and road users in advance for their patience and cooperation. Our operations personnel are committed to restoring normal water supply as quickly as possible.

If you have any concerns in relation to this work, please contact Council’s Project Manager, Mr Jake Bennett on 0437 551 328.

IMPORTANT ADVICE:

  • To carry out essential maintenance to the water network, the water supply to your property may experience low pressure and/or discoloured water.
  • The work has been programmed at this time to minimise inconvenience to customers.
  • Completion of work may depend on weather and other work commitments.

DURING AND AFTER WORK IS COMPLETED:

  • The water quality may not be of the usual standard and in some instances the water may appear discoloured, however, the water is safe for use.
  • We advise that you check the water prior to use.  If it appears discoloured, please do not wash clothes at this time to prevent staining from any discoloured water. We suggest you turn on the nearest external tap to the meter and let it run for a period of time, or until it runs clear and then do the same to the furthest tap from the meter, to clean your pipework.
  • If the water remains discoloured after some time, please contact Council’s Call Centre on 1300 883 699 to report the fault.
