National Youth Week is the largest celebration of young people in Australia with events and activities happening all over the country. Thousands of young people aged 12-25 years get involved each year in organising and celebrating national Youth Week. It is a time of opportunities for young people to share ideas, showcase their talent, have their voices heard and have fun!
Here in the Bundaberg Region we don't think a week is long enough!!! We celebrate with a range of Youth Activities/Events for the entire month of April.

RE:ACT Youth Summit and After Dark 2019
Our Bi-annual Youth Summit kicked off with over 100 students attending across our day session and over 70 coming in for our after dark event. The topics up for discussion were violence and bullying in our region were we collected a range of thoughts and ideas on how we can respond to these two issues.
We also held a workshop in which young people were given the opportunity to have a voice in the new Civic and Cultural Precinct project. Councils Youth Action Team will be looking over all the information collected and using this to decide the next steps.
Y.A.P (Youth Art Place) Exhibition
The Youth Art Place (The Y.A.P) exhibition was put together to celebrate of the skill and talent of the young artist in our region and to give them an opportunity to have their artwork on display to the general public.
There was no theme surrounding the exhibition and the subject of the work was completely up to the young artists to let their imagination run wild!
We had 23 individual artist with works on display and received comments from the audience like: 'inspiring work by our young people", 'such creative talent', 'mesmerizing work', 'beautiful upcoming talent'. With such a great response, we will look further at opportunities for our young artists to display there work that is free and not competition based.
YouthFest Gin Gin
YouthFest Gin Gin saw about 250 community members come out and enjoy a youth and family friendly fun day. Come and the day saw the Gin Gin Youth Centre and surrounding parkland come alive with music, rides and food (Gin Gin Lions Club). Young people helped decorate our Gin Gin Cow as part of the fun. We thank IDSS, Gin Gin Library, Centacare, Kandee Korner, The Ice Cream Lady and Gin Gin Lions Club for helping us put this event together.
