Community Development Strategy

Council is currently in the process of compiling its Community Development Strategy. Over the last several weeks we have been working with our consultant group in hosting open community consultation sessions across the region along with a number of one on one sessions with varied groups and services. We have been listening to what matters to you, what things are important to you and what ideas you have in making a change. The objective of our consultations has been in understanding the region through the eyes of our residents and businesses, address any gaps and barriers and drive important issues like health and social and economic wellbeing.

The strategy will be an important document that will guide future planning around the needs identified by our community and looks to address topics including access and inclusion, seniors, youth, culture, leisure and families. The strategy will help to identify local priorities and can act as a reference for Council and the community in future funding opportunities.

The Draft Community Development Strategy will be available for public comment in November 2019 and then be presented to Council in December 2019 for adoption.
