Healthy for LIFE – Healthy Programs in the Bundaberg Region

Councils in recent years have become more pro active in encouraging increased physical activity and healthy eating in their communtiies. The Bundaberg Regional Council has taken the lead in this area.

During 2012- 2014, The Bundaberg Regional Council was funded by the Australian Government under their Healthy Communities Initiative. The two year project involved partnerships with local service providers and organisations to provide a range of physical activity, cooking and nutrition and healthy lifestyle programs for adults (18 years and over) in the Bundaberg region. The main target group of the Project was people who were not employed full time in the workforce.

A range of initiatives were implemented by Council under their Healthy for LIFE Brand, with some of these initiatives and infrastructure continuing to be available to the residents of our region through Council’s Sport and Recreation “Healthy and Active” Communities charter.
