Join the chaos with Youth Month fun run

16 Feb 2017
Young people can get amongst the chaos created by clouds of coloured powder and have a riot running or walking to the sounds of a DJ by taking part in the Childers Colour Chaos Fun Run!

Community and Cultural Services portfolio spokesperson Cr Judy Peters said the event was part of Bundaberg Regional Council’s Youth Month program and would showcase a variety of services available to young people and the wider community.

“It’s all happening on April 5 at Childers Showgrounds, commencing at 8.30am with the Colour Chaos Fun Run which is open to all residents aged 6 and above,” Cr Peters said.

“The fun run will be followed by a free youth-friendly movie in the Childers Showgrounds Hall in the afternoon.

“The entry fee is $15 which provides all entrants with a race pack that includes one white shirt, a pair of sunglasses, one bag of coloured powder and an entry in to the race entrant prize draw. The white shirt is, of course, the most essential part of the day’s outfit to provide a blank canvas to plaster with plenty of colour!”

Divisional representative Cr Bill Trevor said the event had been welcomed by the Childers community.

“We have received terrific support for this event which has been made possible thanks to partnering organisations including the Devils Football Club, Isis District High School, Childers Primary School, Bendigo Bank and other community representatives,” Cr Trevor said.

“I would also like to commend student Connor Rehbein for winning the naming competition for ‘Childers Colour Chaos’ which judges felt reflected the happy, active and bright theme of the day. For his efforts, Connor has received free entry in to the fun run.”

Registrations are essential and close on March 13.  Entry forms can be found on our youth page, Council Service Centres and the Childers Library.
