CBD revitalisation survey now open!

7 Feb 2017

Residents are being urged to contribute to the CBD revitalisation project by sharing their views on plans to revitalise the area via a community survey.

A stakeholder meeting held tonight to gauge the views of CBD traders discussed matters such as pedestrian crossings, toilet blocks, landscaping, shading, family-friendly aspects, disability access and the general amenity of the inner-city.

Mayor Jack Dempsey said the meeting was also an opportunity to take nominations for a Community Reference Group which would act as a conduit between Council and stakeholders.

“We’ve received handfuls of nominations from traders who attended tonight’s meeting and we will go through those suggestions to consider the make-up of our new Community Reference Group,” Mayor Jack Dempsey said.

“The role of the Community Reference Group will be to work in partnership with the community and the chosen designer to ensure that their concepts reflect the expectations of stakeholders; especially shoppers and business owners.”

Representative for Division 4, Cr Helen Blackburn is encouraging residents to get involved in the CBD revitalisation project by contributing their thoughts via surveys.

“Council is conducting a number of surveys to measure public sentiment. These surveys are now open and can be completed online via a questionnaire, through our social media channels or by using an interactive mapping tool,” Cr Blackburn said.

“To access the survey and have your say on this important project, visit the Council website at Bundaberg.qld.gov.au”

“We’ll also be conducting face to face surveys in the CBD.”
