Natural Areas

Natural areas may be the Bundaberg Region's best kept secret.   There are a number of beautiful, diverse and relatively unknown ecosystems to explore.  Bundaberg Regional Council aims to increase the awareness of these natural areas, so that locals and visitors alike can experience and appreciate the natural beauty of the district.

A number of threats pressure these natural areas to varying degrees.   In many of these areas Council has developed, or is developing, management plans to address multiple issues such as weed, pest and fire management.  However some threats are most effectively managed with community participation and awareness.   It is always important to dispose of litter appropriately and to understand how vulnerable native communities are to our recreational activities including:
  • vehicle
  • pedestrian
  • domestic animal access.

Please respect the fragility of these natural areas so we can all enjoy them now and long into the future and remember to leave nothing behind but your footprints.

Other natural areas which are not Council managed, but definitely worth a visit whilst in the region include:
